Silence..Maybe it's God
I often wonder what it is about Prayer:
The action that humbles hearts and heads. The words that quiet everyone else immediately.
I think it was at fuel groups on sunday night. We were all being crazy and laughing at the stupidest things when Emily decided to start and said that we were going to pray. Immediately, like a sudden explosion across the room, we all fell silent. And that's when I noticed it..SILENCE before God.
Is it the Power of God? Or maybe the fear of the power of God? Or maybe it's just being in awe of the creator. Being in awe of the one who can give life and take it back in a heartbeat--a thing he created.
Maybe its knowing that we have no room to talk or even breathe in the Presence of the One who sent His Son to die so that we could BREATHE HIS LIFE FOREVER.
Maybe it's God.
Maybe it's recognizing our sin in light of who He is and knowing we have fallen short of ALL the Glory of our God, and knowing that He accepts us just the same.
...But he wants us to TALK and communicate with Him?
Maybe it's knowing that we are so incredibly inferior to Him and we think we have it all together when it is even selfish of us to think that because our level of thinking is so far below His that even the thought of THAT is overwhelming.
Maybe it's knowing that this once MAN like us, knows how we move and breathe and feel, but wants to intercede for us and make us perfect and whole again.
Honestly, have you ever thought about it? Wherever I am, when someone prays, everyone else falls utterly SILENT. Not a sound is heard. You can hear a pin drop in a room with 3,000 people. And I can't help but wonder what it is that brings us so unusually silent before God.
I think it's His majesty. It glistens everywhere. In people's eyes, colored leaves, pretty faces, orange sunsets, tall trees, unique music, happy expressions, DNA, truth, working hands, giving hearts, gentle words, and much much more. He has given us HIM and that is something to be silent before.
SO may we ALL fall silent at the name of God. At the thought of Him. While praising Him with our hearts, let us glorify Him with our beings; silent before the Almighty.
