"Here I am"

Image
3 words, 7 letters, 1 phrase; 1 meaning. "Here I am"  The sound of these three words humbles me.  Genesis 46:2 "Here I am," he replied. Genesis 23:11 "But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven, 'Abraham! Abraham!' 'Here I am,' he replied."  Genesis 31:11 "The angel of God said to me in a dream, 'Jacob.' I answered, 'Here I am!' These verses are just a fraction of the countless in Genesis alone.  It has recently made me wonder the significance of those simple words.  Each time, it was the Lord coming to these noble men in the old testament, and each time in response they said just three words. No questions, no complaining, no concern, no heartache, no grief, or hesitation. They simply obeyed. Is it their healthy fear of God? The same power of God that raised Christ from the dead that is speaking to those men and to ME even? The fear of God that holds them to only three words?  Or maybe its ...

The presence of Love

"Come on kids, line up!" Squeals and giggles escape from the lips of excited primary school children who got the chance to have a "field day." 4 lines extended far back, holding 40+ children each, separated only by their colored shirts. The amount of ease it took to line the happy children up amazed me. Back in america, it would take years..this only took a couple seconds. I had almost forgotten. Almost forgotten the hunger for love that these children have. It's a natural instinct for all people, but for these precious human beings, it seemed to stand out to me.  As I stood at the front of the line of children, this little boy stood right in front of me. He lead the line of yellow shirts loud and proud. He looked up to me, to help lead this line of "de weeners." But he just kept hugging me, and leaning on me. It was like we were a team to lead this line. Would you believe that even 7 months after I returned, He continues to teach me from my ex...

Let now our hearts burn with a flame, a fire consuming all for Your Son's Holy Name.    You can take these dry bones. Breathe LIFE into this skin. Hope which was lost, now stands renewed. We're desperate for Your presence, all we need is You. Hallelujah,Holy Holy, God Almighty, The Great I AM who is worthy, none besides thee, God almighty-The Great I AM.   Weak made strong in the Savior's LOVE.   You make beautiful things out of us.   And His Glory appears like the light from the sun. Age to age He shines. OH, look to the skies, hear the angels cry, singing "Holy is the Lord."

Uncomfortably Beautiful

You were not put on this earth to be comfortable. You were not put on this earth to enjoy your life full of its pleasures for you. You were not put on this earth to live an easy life. "For to you  it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake ."   Philippians 1:29 Paul considers it pure JOY to suffer for Christ. To have faith like Paul. God is teaching me so much about how to Love. He has shown me the simple things that make peoples' days better, but also the bigger things that bring strangers closer to Himself. And yes, it is uncomfortable. Especially when His timing doesn't fit mine. It makes me uncomfortable. But the trust I put in Him overrides my want to live for me in that moment, and He makes it a beautiful thing. It is expected of us as Christians that we suffer for Christ. Suffering can look like a lot of different things, too. Maybe its giving up that one car that you don't need. Maybe i...
