Uncomfortably Beautiful

You were not put on this earth to be comfortable.

 You were not put on this earth to enjoy your life full of its pleasures for you.

 You were not put on this earth to live an easy life.

"For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake."  Philippians 1:29

Paul considers it pure JOY to suffer for Christ. To have faith like Paul. God is teaching me so much about how to Love. He has shown me the simple things that make peoples' days better, but also the bigger things that bring strangers closer to Himself. And yes, it is uncomfortable. Especially when His timing doesn't fit mine. It makes me uncomfortable. But the trust I put in Him overrides my want to live for me in that moment, and He makes it a beautiful thing.

It is expected of us as Christians that we suffer for Christ. Suffering can look like a lot of different things, too. Maybe its giving up that one car that you don't need. Maybe it means selling your house to live in a smaller one. Maybe its living in a 3rd-world country, not really sure why God has placed you there. Everyone gets on the verge of making a big move to live radically, and then the Devil's twisted being creeps into our minds, fogging the point. He tells us we really need what we already have. We really are fine the way we're living. Its okay to live for ourselves.....

We weren't put on this earth to live radically after camp, or "passion2013," and then return to our normal self-infested lives. We are called to radically live in our normal every day lives, which in turn makes them not so normal. Because once you start meeting new people, and investing in lives and forming discipling relationships, the Lord fills your days with Him instead of you.

Every day, we encounter a new person who needs Jesus. Speak to them. Plead with God to give you the right words. Don't let this chance that God has given you to live and suffer for Him slip by, count it as a joyful privilege to suffer for His name. For we are not even worthy of that. 

Living radically requires every moment of life to be lived for Jesus. 

He requires every moment of our lives to be uncomfortably

beautiful.

You see, when we are not comfortable in our living, God is taking away the normalcy of our lives, and replacing it with an urge to love the world. 

Be uncomfortable. 

"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."

Stubborn man given NEW life in a matter of minutes.

There is power in the name of Jesus. I have never seen it like I did that day. It was our free day, with not much to do. Earlier, we had passed a big hindu temple on the side of the red hills, and then into a small village that looked untouched by the mzungus. Some of the team had mentioned how it would be really interesting to go to that village for a day, so we went! As we climbed out of the too-small-van onto the staining dirt roads, we prayed for His will to be done. Whatever it was, to let Grace fall on these people. And it did. It was like fire spreading. And it was fire spreading; we dispersed immediately in all directions, carrying the news of redemption, salvation, life with us, hoping to give it away. Goodbye 'Murica, Hey Germany!

If you know me at all, you know I love to travel. What an adventure I am about to be a part of! I graduated high school in December (2014). I made that decision in September to finish early because I had enough credits and then I was hoping to travel somewhere or get an internship somewhere local/domestic in the Spring semester (2015). However, I just kinda put it off because it was so far in the future. I met with our missions pastor at Calvary to see what opportunities were available. I wanted to serve the church and not just do what I wanted to do. He mentioned missionaries that Calvary had in Lebanon, Germany, Calgary, and India. After prayer and consideration and a couple emails, we decided that Germany would be really feasible to pursue because of a missionary connection that our head pastor had with the church planter there.
