A Promise Made With Blood
To run away from a place with danger. Running, and not looking back. Not imagining what would have happened IF you had done this or that, but taking all of you, and FLEEING.
Everywhere we turn, the passions of Earth beg for our attention. They are direct plots from the enemy to ultimately destroy us. That is all he is existing to do. To d e s t r o y YOU. The world consumes us, and eventually it turns our passions into its passions. Then what we desires becomes what the world wants us to desire. It owns us. 2 Timothy 2:22 says "Flee youthful passions.." How is it so hard to escape such a powerful thing?
1 Timothy 6:6 says that godliness with contentment is great gain. As today is thanksgiving, I've been thinking. What if everyone was content with what they had? What if everyone was content with needing Jesus and ONLY Jesus? If so, there would be no need to flee from anything, because everything we needed, we would have. Everything we NEED, we HAVE, in Jesus. Why can't our hearts be content in that?
It's so hard to be certain of the future, especially when it's so unknown. I'm so clueless about heaven, or hell for that matter. But this is where faith comes in. This is where, in our unknown state, we place our faith and our ultimate hope in God, because we are PROMISED HIM. And we can hold onto that promise. That He is ours. We can be content in that. Be thankful that we are promised Him. But this promise isn't a Kindergarten, playground-time, secret-to-your-bestie promise, this is a blood promise. Back in the Old Testament, a promise was made with blood. And it was kept too. When Jesus came for the first time, He promised us that He would return, and when He does it will be glorious, and we can find HOPE in that. We can be content in that and in Him. For He is all we need, all the time, anyplace, anywhere.
When we take a hold of how contentedness comes from being promised Jesus and being IN the Lord, the Holy Spirit WORKS. He works in our lives and hearts, and fleeing worldly passions is no longer a chore, but a pleasure. When we are so content in the Lord, earth doesn't appeal to us. We can escape the doors calling for us to enter that lead to death. We can escape the mind-defiling schemes that media throws at us, and we can REST. Because we know that this is not our home. WE have to want it. We have to want the everlasting peace that God gives us, we have to want the Joy that comes from following Christ, and we have to show others what we have found.

Bottom Line: Be content in Christ by resting in His
promised, finished work. Then, choose to flee worldly passions which are made
easier to say "no" to by resting in His promised, finished work. And
take hold of the Eternal Life which waits for us, not Earthly, which drags us
even further down.
